Dr Kathryn McLeod

Urological Surgeon

Dr Kathryn McLeod (MBBS, FRACS, MSurgEd) is a urologist and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons with expertise and a special interest in voiding dysfunction, incontinence and overactive bladder treatment.


Training

Dr. McLeod completed her medical training at the University of Adelaide in 2005. After completing Urological training in 2013, Dr. McLeod spent 12 months completing further training under the supervision of Professor Helen O’Connell, gaining experience in voiding dysfunction, female urology and neuro-urology. 

Dr. Kathryn McLeod is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.


Geelong based practice

Dr. McLeod is a consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospital. Her private practice is based in Geelong at the St John of God Specialist Centre. She also provides a monthly consulting sessions at Winchelsea. She operates at University Hospital Geelong and St John of God Hospital Geelong.

  • Currently completing her PhD in Surgical Education, focusing on ways to improve remediation of surgical trainees

  • Dr McLeod is a facilitator with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for the Induction of Surgical Supervisors Course and Difficult Conversations with Difficult Trainees Course

  • Senior clinical lecturer at Deakin University Medical School
  • Honorary academic lecturer – University of Melbourne
  • Chair of Regional Training for VIC/TAS for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) 2022-2024
  • Member, Board of Urology of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) / Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) – the training authority that administers the specialist Urology Training Program in Australia and New Zealand
  • Chair of Education subcommittee – Board of Urology RACS / USANZ
  • Facilitator for the AMA Impairment Urology course 2021-2023
  • Proctor for Medtronic with Sacral neuromodulation 2020-2023
  • Dr. McLeod also has a history with the Australian Defence Force. She is currently in the Standby Reserves as a Medical Officer and has obtained the rank of Captain. She previously has been fully qualified as an Operator Specialist Communications.
